Project:
Castell Granadella

Interior photography heritage and modern luxury

Project Overview: Castell Granadella is a prestigious restoration of a 12th-century castle fragment into a luxurious stately home. The aim was to meticulously blend profound historical character with contemporary luxury, offering an exceptional accommodation experience in the Ebro Delta.

My Role: As Lead Interior Photographer, my objective was to create a comprehensive visual narrative, meticulously capturing each space. I focused on eloquently conveying the property’s unique fusion of ancient heritage and sophisticated modern design for high-end marketing and promotional use.

Elevated view of the hotel pool and terrace area, showing lounge chairs, synthetic grass, a thatched pergola, and surrounding pine forest.
Rustic pool area pergola with wooden supports, lounge chairs on artificial grass, and a view toward the historic tower of the property.

Obstacles: The challenge was dual:

Artistic Balance: Harmonizing 12th-century elements with modern design; ensuring each photograph created a dialogue, not a clash.

Technical Lighting: Managing extreme dynamic range from thick castle walls and limited windows. This included addressing severe color contamination from mixed light sources, critical for achieving an authentic and inviting atmosphere.

Solutions:

My approach combined advanced techniques and deliberate artistry:

  1. Dynamic Range & Color: Utilized exposure bracketing and subtle off-camera flash to capture full detail. Meticulous post-production with layer masks corrected mixed lighting, ensuring cohesive white balance.

2. Composition & Detail: Employed various lenses (wide, mid, detail) for strategic compositional control. This allowed for intentional isolation of historical elements, highlighting their value and enabling harmonious integration with modern features. The result: emotive and representative visuals of the unique space.
